Why is safer skincare important?
Many of you that know me well or that have been part of this community for any length of time know that I am all about safer, cleaner products.
What would drive someone to seek safer, cleaner products for their home and life?
When I was diagnosed 15+ years ago with Hashimotos, it drove me to seek more information. The more I learned about the harmful toxins we are exposed to on a daily basis, and the damaging affects they have on our bodies, the more I began to make changes in what I could control. I increased my awareness of what I put in and on my body. Awareness is EVERYTHING!

Once I increased my awareness regarding the safety, or lack thereof, of my personal care products using information published by the non-profit organization dedicated to protecting human health and the environment, the Environmental Working Group, I could not unlearn everything I had learned. Things like household cleaning products, plastics used for food storage, personal care products, makeup, detergents, soaps, and even the food I was eating was full of toxic chemicals and hormone disruptors. I knew I had to make some changes!
Did this happen overnight?
No, this took time. I was able to find and replace items that contained harmful ingredients with safer products over time. When it came to personal care and beauty products, I thought I was doing pretty good, but I would often learn the brand was making false claims OR they were safer but they didn’t work well. This resulted in frustration and money wasted.
The current state of the beauty and personal care products industry is dire.
There has not been a federal law passed governing the personal care industry since 1938. The European Union has banned close to 1400 potentially harmful ingredients from their beauty and personal care products and the United States has banned 11.
My obligation to you is to share information that will impact your health and wellness.
After years of gathering information, I feel a strong pull to share all I’ve learned – the more I learn, the more I want to share. I have implemented so many things over time that I feel strongly have helped my symptoms and overall wellness improve. My hope is to support others as they continue their journey to become the best version of themselves.
